A new piece of Spider-Man: No Way Home art imagines Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man bonding with the Venom symbiote. Director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: No Way Home spectacularly concluded his Homecoming trilogy, capitalizing on nostalgia by bringing back characters from Sony’s past. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s adventure hit theaters on December 17 and broke box office records thanks in large part to its multiverse theory.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Stephen Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) spell gone awry, bringing villains who know Peter Parker is Spider-Man into the MCU, including Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Electro (Jamie Foxx), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), and Lizard (Rhys Ifans). Of course, the spell also brought in some others familiar with Spider-Man’s secret identity, such as Andrew Garfield and Maguire’s Spider-Men, and and Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy). Venom 2 had already teased the latter MCU debut in Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene, which was also directed by Watts.

Artist Venomhology on Instagram recently shared some art inspired by both Maguire and Hardy’s appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The piece sees Maguire’s Spider-Man bond with the Venom symbiote during the film’s final battle. The impressive image effectively captures the transformation just before it engulfs Maguire completely, and the post's caption asks fans whether they believe Venom should have appeared in the MCU movie.
