The Pogues bassist Darryl Hunt has died, it has been confirmed.
Taking to Instagram, the group confirmed the devastating news, announcing that he passed away in London on Monday (August 8) at the age of 72.
In an emotional post, they said: "We are saddened beyond words. Our Darryl passed away yesterday afternoon in London.
"Darryl Gatwick Hunt 04/05/1950 - 08/08/2022.
"I know you want to hear me catch my breath. I love you till the end."
The touching words are lyrics from The Pogues hit track Love You 'Till The End - the track was written by Darryl himself and is one of the group's most recognised hits.
The track famously featured on the soundtrack to hit RomCom movie P.S. I Love You as the soundtrack to the romance between Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank's tragic lovers Gerry and Holly.
Alongside the lyrics was a black and white photo of the icon holding a guitar in a case from the band's heyday.
Hampshire-born Darryl joined The Pogues in 1986 having previously worked for them as a roadie, he was a key member of the group from then on.
Bandmates shared the tribute with Spider Stacy posting on Twitter: "This is wretched. See you around the way, Daz. 'It's in the fridge #TrickyTrees'."

Darryl attended college in Lyme Regis, Devon, before going on to study at Nottingham Trent University, where he obtained a BA in fine art.
During his time at university, he made his debut in the music world when he joined The Brothel Creepers who were formed for a student movie in 1973.
They subsequently changed their name to Plummet Airlines. Darryl then ventured into punk rock with another band, The Favourites.
However, it was during his time with The Pogues he found his true success, featuring on all of the band's major releases from 1988's If I Should Fall from Grace with God - which featured arguably their greatest hit Fairytale of New York - up to Love You 'Til the End which featured on their final album, Pogue Mahone.
